Bernhard Scheichl is a Senior Lecturer (equivalent to Associate Professor) at the Institute of Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer, Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien), and an Honorary Associate Professor at the Department of Mathematics, University College London (UCL). His work bridges theoretical and applied fluid mechanics with tribology and computational modeling.
Education:
- PhD (Dr. techn.) in Fluid Mechanics (2001), TU Wien
- Habilitation (venia docendi) in Fluid Mechanics (2011), TU Wien
Research Focus:
- High-Reynolds-number flows (boundary layers, turbulent shear layers)
- Rotating-disc flows and hydraulic jump dynamics
- Lubricant flow (cavitation, film rupture, mixed/boundary lubrication)
- Applied mathematics: asymptotic analysis and singular perturbation methods
- Numerical mathematics and computational fluid dynamics
Additional Roles:
- Principal scientist for the Austrian Tribology Society (OeTG) since 2015
- Key scientist at AC²T research GmbH in the COMET K2 Program since 2008
- Erasmus coordinator for his faculty
