Professor Bernd Schroers has served as Head of the School of Mathematics at Heriot-Watt University since August 2022. Prior to this, he was Head of Department (2014–2017) and has been a key figure in Edinburgh's mathematical sciences community since 1999, including roles as Co-director of the Maxwell Institute for Mathematical Sciences and Co-chair of the International Centre for Mathematical Sciences (ICMS). His research focuses on mathematical physics, particularly topological solitons and quantum gravity.
