Prof. Dr. Bernd Frick holds the Chair of Organizational, Media, and Sports Economics at the University of Paderborn's Faculty of Economics since July 2007. His research focuses on interdisciplinary economic analyses across sports, media, labor markets, and health, emphasizing empirical methodologies. Key interests include sports labor markets, consumer behavior in sports, gender disparities in performance and pay, and organizational strategies in professional sports. He teaches courses such as Organization and Management and Freakonomics, and supervises a team including Dr. Charlotte Kräft, Pascal Haase, and Mojgan Ghayour Najafabadi.
Recent work explores topics like racial bias in soccer fan behavior, gender differences in expert evaluations, and the impact of founder demographics on startup success. His research often bridges theoretical frameworks with real-world data, addressing questions like the valuation of soccer players or the effects of mandatory safety regulations on athlete careers.
