Bernd Büchner

Bernd Büchner is a Professor and Scientific Director at the Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden (IFW Dresden), where he also serves as Director of the Institute for Solid State Research. He has held leadership roles in major research initiatives, including the Cluster of Excellence ct.qmat and Collaborative Research Center 1143, and is a Foreign Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

Research Focus:

• Materials with strongly correlated electrons
• Superconductivity and magnetism in unconventional superconductors (iron-based superconductors, cuprates)
• Electronic properties of topological materials
• Magnetic interactions in frustrated spin systems and spin liquids
