Bernard V Lightman is Professor of Humanities at York University, specializing in the Cultural History of Victorian Science. He serves as Director of the Graduate Program in Science and Technology Studies and is Society Editor for the History of Science Society, editing the journal Isis. His research examines the intersection of science, religion, gender, and visual culture in 19th-century Britain.
He has authored several influential books including 'Victorian Popularizers of Science' and 'The Origins of Agnosticism'. His current project is a biography of physicist John Tyndall.
