Bernard Tourancheau is a Professor at University Joseph Fourier of Grenoble, affiliated with the Laboratoire d'Informatique de Grenoble (LIG) and its Drakkar team. He holds a MSc in Applied Mathematics (1986, Grenoble University), a MSc in Renewable Energy Science and Technology (2007, Loughborough University), and a PhD in Computer Science (1989, awarded as Best PhD by Grenoble's Institut National Polytechnique).
His research focuses on High-Performance Computing (HPC), sensor networks for building energy efficiency, parallel computing architectures, and Internet of Things (IoT) protocols. He has held roles including Senior Researcher at CNRS, Assistant Professor at École Normale Supérieure de Lyon, and Principal Investigator at SUN Microsystems Laboratories (2001–2007). He leads projects on IoT energy optimization, multicores GPGPU algorithms, and HPC cluster design.
He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications and filed 10 patents, particularly in network communication and error-correction technologies. His keynote speeches, such as the 2013 talk on IoT sensor node energy consumption, highlight his expertise in sustainable IT solutions.
