Bernard A. Hauser is an Associate Professor at the University of Florida, affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on plant reproductive development, specifically the genetic and molecular mechanisms regulating seed formation and maternal tissues in plants such as Arabidopsis and tomato. He investigates how environmental stress and genetic mutations impact ovule development, seed set, and dormancy.
Hauser earned his Ph.D. in 1995 from the University of Georgia. His work integrates microscopic analysis, genetic mutation studies, and gene expression profiling to uncover pathways critical for seed development. Key areas include reactive oxygen species' roles in ovule abortion, phytochrome signaling in tomato, and the function of genes like TSO1 and INNER NO OUTER in floral organogenesis.
