Bernard Brooks

Bernard Brooks is a Part-Time Lecturer in the Department of English at the University of Pittsburgh’s Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences. A native Pittsburgher, he holds a BA in English Literature and an M.Ed. in Foreign Language Instruction with TESOL certification, both from the University of Pittsburgh.

His career has focused on English as a Second Language (ESL) education, with significant professional experience in Saudi Arabia, where he also studied Arabic formally. He is actively engaged in translating classical Arabic literature and is a passionate advocate for Steelers football, embodying local pride as a 'Yinzer.'

Brooks’ expertise spans ESL pedagogy, cross-cultural communication, and Arabic language studies. His teaching philosophy emphasizes practical language application and cultural immersion.
