Bern Perchalski is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physiology & Anatomy at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, within the College of Biomedical and Translational Sciences. She holds a PhD in Evolutionary Anthropology from Duke University, an MA in Anthropology from Pennsylvania State University, and a BS in Biological Anthropology from the same institution.
Her research focuses on how arboreal animals navigate complex environments, particularly lemurs descending steep supports, and integrates live animal behavior with functional morphology to understand extinct primate locomotion. She has conducted fieldwork in Wyoming studying early Eocene mammals and investigates bone remodeling's role in reconstructing past human and primate behaviors.
Her publications explore primate locomotion mechanics and human bone development, contributing to evolutionary and anatomical understanding. She is affiliated with the Center for Anatomical Sciences and actively engages in medical education initiatives.
