Beren Semiz is an Assistant Professor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Koç University, where he also directs the Physiological Analysis and Wearable Systems Research Lab. He holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. from Georgia Institute of Technology (2020 and 2018), and a B.Sc. from Koç University (2016), supported by a Fulbright Scholarship. His research focuses on biomedical signal processing, wearable device design, and machine learning applications in healthcare. Key projects include drowsiness detection systems for drivers, pediatric rehabilitation monitoring, and cardiovascular assessment frameworks.
Research interests emphasize wearable sensor development for continuous health monitoring, with a focus on optimizing physiological signal analysis for clinical applications. His lab's work has been featured in major engineering journals (e.g., Medical & Biological Engineering & Computing) and medical conferences including EMBC 2025. Recent breakthroughs include cuff-less blood pressure estimation and novel image processing methods for intra-articular bleeding quantification.
