Benoît Henriet is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Social History of Capitalism at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). His expertise lies in the history from below, focusing on (post)colonial Central Africa, particularly vernacular responses to state power and capitalism. He obtained his PhD in Contemporary History from Université Saint-Louis (2016) and held postdoctoral positions at the Center Marc Bloch in Berlin and the University of Oxford. Henriet leads major research projects such as FORAGENCY (ERC Starting Grant) and coordinates initiatives like Rebel Soldiers on Trial and DIGICOLJUST-2. His work explores themes like colonial violence, military agency, foraging practices, and archival accessibility.
