Benny Geys is a Professor of Economics at BI Norwegian Business School (Oslo) and Research Professor at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). He specializes in political economy, public administration, and civic engagement, focusing on government performance, intergovernmental relations, and bureaucratic dynamics.
Geys holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Vrije Universiteit Brussel (2004) and a Master's in Science from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (2000). He has held academic roles at BI since 2010, including a concurrent position at VUB until 2020.
His research investigates topics such as bureaucratic politics, electoral behavior, and institutional design. Recent work examines time tactics in public administration, partisan dynamics in civil service, and the impact of terrorism on public-sector employees.
