University of Texas Southwestern Medical Centerمعرفی
Benjamin Sabari is an Assistant Professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center's Department of Molecular Biology and a CPRIT Scholar. He holds a BS in Molecular Genetics from the University of Rochester (2010), a PhD from The Rockefeller University (2016), and completed his postdoctoral training at the Whitehead Institute under Richard Young. His research focuses on understanding how biomolecular condensates organize the transcriptional machinery in healthy and diseased states. Key areas include phase-separated condensates' roles in gene activation, their dysregulation in cancer and stem cell differentiation, and the interplay between protein disorder, DNA clustering, and active processes in condensate formation. The Sabari Lab employs live cell microscopy, proteomics, and epigenomics to study these phenomena. Notable achievements include discoveries about condensate-driven transcriptional control and their implications in oncology. Former lab members include Heankel Lyons (now at Stanford) and Nancy De La Cruz (now at UTSW), while current members include graduate student Mikayla Eppert and postdoctoral fellows like Shubham Vashishtha. The lab is affiliated with the Cecil H. and Ida Green Center for Reproductive Biology Sciences.
