Dr. Benjamin Neimark is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Business and Management at Queen Mary University of London and a Senior Fellow at the Institute of Humanities & Social Science (IHSS). He holds a PhD from Rutgers University and an M.A. from Cornell University. His research focuses on the intersection of human geography and political ecology, particularly studying the environmental impacts of global militaries and critical mineral supply chains. He leads the UKRI-funded 'Concrete Impacts' project examining military emissions and decarbonization challenges.
Key research interests include military climate footprints, green/blue/bio-economy labor dynamics, and conservation programs in Sub-Saharan Africa and Madagascar. His work critiques market-based conservation and has published on eco-precarious labor, cocoa certification politics, and the socio-ecological consequences of militarization.
He teaches Global Supply Chain Management at the postgraduate level and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA). Neimark co-founded the POLLEN political ecology network and serves as Editor-in-Chief of the African Geographical Review. His recent publications include Hottest of the Hotspots: The Rise of Eco-precarious Conservation Labor in Madagascar and Confronting Military Emissions: An Interactive Research Brief.
