Benjamin Miquel

Benjamin Miquel is a Researcher at the CNRS affiliated with the Laboratory of Fluid Mechanics and Acoustics (LMFA) at Central School of Lyon. His work focuses on rotating turbulent convective flows with applications in planetary science and astrophysics.

Dr. Miquel's primary research interests include:

• Geophysical and astrophysical fluid dynamics
• Convection modeling on spherical surfaces
• Rotating turbulent flows
• Planetary and stellar core dynamics
• Ocean and atmospheric circulation patterns

He currently leads the ANR TILT-HEAT project (beginning January 2024) developing regional convection models for spherical surfaces. Dr. Miquel actively mentors students and welcomes inquiries regarding M2 internships, doctoral theses, and post-doctoral opportunities related to his research domain. His work bridges theoretical fluid mechanics with practical applications in earth sciences and astrophysics.

As a member of the Turbulence and Instabilities research team at LMFA, he contributes to France's national research efforts in fluid mechanics through the CNRS framework.
