Benjamin Manning

Benjamin Manning is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Sydney's Department of Sociology within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. His research focuses on economic sociology, historical sociology, and the sociology of work and professions. He holds a PhD in Sociology from UNSW, where his thesis analyzed the economies of Japanese prisoner-of-war camps during WWII using Polanyian theory.

Research Interests: Ben explores the history of sociology in Australia, moral economies of crisis, and the intersection of culture and economics in historical contexts. His current ARC-funded project examines the role of sociology in public discourse and policy.

Teaching: He teaches SSP6005 Advanced Qualitative Data Analysis.
