His research examines how preferences, resource inequalities, and demographic events shape residential segregation and its intersections with social networks, workplaces, and migration patterns. He employs big data, discrete choice models, and agent-based simulations to explore these dynamics. Current projects include analyzing the effects of school peers on residential mobility and investigating how segregation persists across generations.
Recent work has addressed segregation trends in Sweden, the role of ancestry categorizations in segregation measurement, and historical patterns of migration and social mobility in 19th-century America. His computational approaches bridge traditional sociological theory with cutting-edge methods in computational social science.
- Grants: Received over SEK 30 million from Formas for projects on sustainable development, including research to improve outcomes for children in disadvantaged areas.
He collaborates with institutions like the Institute for Analytical Sociology to advance methodological innovations and policy-relevant insights into urban inequality and segregation.
