Benjamin J. Davis

Benjamin J. Davis is a Professor of Chemical Engineering and holds the Eleanor and Stanley Ensminger Chair of Chemical Engineering at The Cooper Union's Albert Nerken School of Engineering. His expertise lies in sustainable chemical process design, focusing on modeling efficient, safe, and environmentally-friendly manufacturing systems. He earned his B.S. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from Cornell University and his Ph.D. from UCLA in 2009.

Research interests include sustainability assessment, bioprocess design, biofuels, and operations research. He teaches core courses such as Material and Energy Balances and electives like Advanced Chemical Reaction Engineering. Active in the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) since 2004, he has held leadership roles in its Education Division, including Chair. His work integrates academic and practical applications, emphasizing interdisciplinary solutions to societal challenges.
