Benjamin Davies is a Lecturer in the Department of Environmental Studies at Tufts University, part of the School of Arts and Sciences. His work focuses on coupled human-natural systems, computational social science, and human mobility patterns, with a particular emphasis on climate change adaptation and fire ecology. He holds a PhD from the University of Auckland (New Zealand), an MA from the same institution, and a BA from the University of Hawaii at Manoa (USA). His research integrates agent-based modeling, paleoenvironmental data analysis, and lithic technology studies to explore long-term human-environment interactions.
Key research interests include the resilience of past societies under environmental pressures, the role of fire in prehistoric ecosystems, and the application of digital methods to archaeological questions. His publications span topics like Holocene mobility patterns in South Africa, Quaternary anthropogenic landscape changes, and reproducible agent-based modeling frameworks. Teaching responsibilities include courses such as Environmental Data Visualization and Introduction to Environmental Fieldwork.
Recent work highlights interdisciplinary approaches, including collaborations on serious games for coastal decision-making and studies of hominin ecological adaptation. Postdoctoral training at Yale University and the University of Utah further enriched his expertise in computational archaeology and environmental dynamics.
