Benjamin Brandenburg is a Professor at Montreat College, affiliated with the Faculty of Christianity, Culture, and Human Expression. He joined the faculty in 2014 and holds a B.A. from Northwestern College, with A.B.D. status in International History from Temple University.

His research focuses on the global influence of American evangelicalism, particularly through his book project Evangelical Empire: Globalizing the Gospel in the Age of American Superpower, which examines the international reach of Rev. Billy Graham’s work. He integrates history and international relations into his teaching to cultivate critical thinking and compassion in students.
His recent publications include reflections on Japanese Christian history and the legacy of Ruth Bell Graham in Montreat. Outside academia, he enjoys cycling, fly-fishing in Pisgah Forest, and exploring Asheville’s Jazz Age architecture with his family.
