Benjamin Bembé

Prof. Dr. Benjamin Bembé is a Professor of Biology and its Didactics at the Alanus Hochschule für Kunst und Gesellschaft, Waldorf Institut Witten Annen since 2024. He has been affiliated with the Institute for Evolutionary Biology and Morphology at the University of Witten/Herdecke since 2018. Prior to this, he served as a senior biology and geography teacher at the Free Waldorf School Landsberg am Lech from 2002 to 2018. He holds a PhD in Biology from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (2005), focusing on Euglossini bees' functional morphology and taxonomy. His research integrates Goetheanist science with modern biological and pedagogical approaches.

Key research interests include organismal form, evolutionary theory, and educational methodologies in Waldorf schools. He has contributed to studies on biodiversity, symbiotic relationships in nature, and the application of Goetheanist principles in teaching biology. His work often bridges natural sciences with cultural and philosophical perspectives, such as exploring Egypt’s cultural history through biological frameworks.

Recent publications highlight interdisciplinary themes, including the role of form in organisms, biodiversity’s societal impact, and educational practices for ecology internships. His contributions extend to bioindicators, orchid bee taxonomy, and the Sekem Museum’s educational role in Egypt.
