Benjamin Adam Jerue is a Professor in the Education Area at the Faculty of Communication and Social Sciences and currently serves as International Coordinator for Education degrees.
He holds a Doctorate in Classical Philology from Yale University (2016) and a Licentiate in Classical Philology from the University of Michigan (2010).
His research centers on rhetoric, education, and historiography in the Roman world, with current projects examining Cicero's reception in Roman educational systems and the works of Dionysius of Halicarnassus—a Greek writer and teacher active in first-century BCE Rome. He has published in high-impact journals including Historia: Zeitschrift für Alte Geschichte, Latomus, Ciceroniana On Line, and Emerita, and is preparing a monograph on Quintilian.
Jerue has presented at over 15 national and international conferences across Spain, France, USA, Italy, Hungary, and Mexico. His research has been supported by prestigious affiliations including the Institute for Advanced Study (Princeton, 2024), Center for Epigraphical and Palaeographical Studies (The Ohio State University, 2015/2018), and Fondation Hardt (Geneva, 2014).
