Benita Combet is an Assistant Professor (tenure track) at the Institute of Sociology, University of Bern, where she leads research on social and educational inequality, supported by an SNSF Starting Grant. She previously held academic positions at the University of Konstanz, LMU Munich, University of Lausanne, and University of Zurich, often funded by competitive Swiss National Science Foundation grants.
Her research focuses on gendered and class-based disparities in education and labor markets, employing advanced quantitative methods such as panel data analysis and experimental designs. She is particularly interested in how social structures influence field of study choices and career trajectories.
Benita Combet has been awarded several prestigious grants from the Swiss National Science Foundation, including the Ambizione and Starting Grants, which support early-career researchers. She was also a fellow at the Cluster of Excellence at the University of Konstanz and held an interim professorship there.
She advises Allianz Chance+ on educational opportunity programs and serves on the Education, Professionals and Diversity Committee of digitalswitzerland.
