Ben Williams is a Senior Research Fellow at the Air Quality Management Resource Centre (AQMRC) within the Faculty of Environment and Technology at the University of the West of England (UWE). With 18 years of experience in environmental sampling and air pollution analysis, his work bridges air quality management, environmental forensics, and biodiversity assessment.

His research focuses on airborne microplastics, bioaerosols, and source apportionment of particulate matter. He leads innovative projects like the UKRI-funded Homes Under the Microscope study, which explores citizen science approaches to microplastic pollution, and develops airborne DNA collection methods for conservation applications. Ben also co-leads UWE's Biospheric Microplastics Research Cluster and contributes to editorial and advisory roles, including Defra's Air Quality Expert Group (AQEG) and the International Network of Environmental Forensics.
Ben supervises undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD research projects while co-leading the MSc Environmental Management and MSc Environmental Consultancy programs. He offers consultancy services in air quality monitoring, dust characterization, and microplastic analysis. His expertise spans environmental forensics, air pollution modeling, and policy-relevant research.
