Ben Parry is a Senior Lecturer and Course Leader of the MA in Curatorial Practice at Bath Spa University’s Bath School of Art, Film and Media. His practice-based research explores intersections of art, activism, and urban space as tools for social change. He co-founded Jump Ship Rat, curated exhibitions, and edited key texts like *Cultural Hijack: Rethinking Intervention* (2012). His work includes international projects such as the Cultural Hijack exhibition series and participatory urban interventions under the International Peripatetic Sculptors Society (IPSS).
Parry’s research focuses on urban regeneration, environmental art, and global megacities. Notable projects include collaborations in Mumbai’s Dharavi district with the Acorn Foundation and Coventry University, addressing urban displacement through participatory art. He holds a BA in Environmental Art from Glasgow School of Art, MCD in Urban Planning from Liverpool University, and a PhD from the University of the West of Scotland.
His academic outputs include edited volumes on art and ecocide (*2023*), urban interventions in Mexico City (*2016*), and performance methods in spatial politics (*2018*). Parry’s work emphasizes collaborative, community-driven practices and critical engagement with urban space’s socio-political dimensions.
