Ben McQuillin is a Lecturer in Economics at the University of East Anglia (UEA), affiliated with the School of Economics, Centre for Behavioural and Experimental Social Science, and the Economic Theory group. He holds a BA Hons from the University of Cambridge, and MA and D.Phil degrees from UEA. Previously, he worked in finance at Bankers Trust and Credit Suisse, where he invented the 'Asian option.' His research focuses on game theory, social choice theory, normative microeconomics, and the economics of science. He has been awarded a teaching commendation by the HEA Economics Network.
His key research explores cooperative and non-cooperative game theory applications in scenarios involving cooperation and externalities, such as international agreements and corporate mergers. He also investigates the formal representation of rights and the reconciliation of normative economics with behavioral economics. Recent projects include analyzing the impact of academic conferences and disaster effects on research collaboration.
