Ben Hayward is an Associate Professor in the Department of Business Law and Taxation at Monash University's Monash Business School. He holds a PhD from Monash University's Faculty of Law, specializing in private international law in international commercial arbitration. His work focuses on CISG, arbitration, and Australian commercial law. He is General Editor of The ACICA Review and a member of multiple research groups including the International Trade and International Commercial Law group.
Educated at Monash University, he has published widely in private and international commercial law. His research explores conflict of laws, international sales, and arbitration. Recent publications include analyses of Chinese CISG cases and legislative submissions on digital assets and arbitration frameworks.
He has received multiple awards including the 2020 Dean's Award for Excellence in Research and 2023 Innovation in Teaching. His activities include speaking at international conferences, contributing to government consultations, and podcast appearances discussing arbitration and ADR in Australia.
Ben supervises HDR students in private international law, international sales, and arbitration. He teaches contract law, commercial law, and legal skills, emphasizing practical applications for business disciplines.
