Ben Geller is an Associate Professor of Physics at Swarthmore College and Director of the Swarthmore Summer Scholars (S3P) Program. He also coordinates Natural Sciences and Engineering (NSE) Educational Support Initiatives, focusing on peer-assisted learning and inclusive teaching practices. His research explores interdisciplinary connections between physics and life sciences, particularly how students navigate disciplinary boundaries.
As Coordinator of NSE initiatives, he trains undergraduate peer assistants to foster collaborative learning environments. He emphasizes teaching as an intellectual endeavor, leading workshops on student-centered pedagogy. The S3P Program he directs supports first-generation and low-income students interested in STEM.
His research interests include Physics Education Research (PER), curriculum design for interdisciplinary STEM learning, and the role of energy concepts in bridging physics and biology. He has published extensively on curriculum impact assessments, student interdisciplinary reasoning, and pedagogical strategies for inclusive STEM education.
Ben’s advising and grant work centers on peer mentoring and program development. He collaborates on initiatives to improve STEM education accessibility and has contributed to community-sourced curriculum development for introductory physics courses.
