Ben Crane

Ben Crane is an Associate Lecturer in the School of Health and Social Sciences at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol). With a background in public sector roles across three UK police forces, the College of Policing, and the FCDO, his expertise spans uniform policing, counter-terrorism, public order, and international policing advisory work.

His qualifications include a BEng (Hons) in Aeronautics and Astronautics and an MSc in International Criminal Justice Studies. Crane led the College of Policing's 2018 Professional Placement Toolkit project, focusing on senior officer development through external secondments.

Research interests include police education, cross-sector collaboration in law enforcement, and enhancing overseas law enforcement capabilities through UK-led advisory initiatives. He brings extensive operational experience from roles such as tactical firearms commander and response policing specialist.
