Ben Baumberg Geiger is a Professor in Social Science and Health at King's College London, co-leading the 'Work, welfare reform and mental health' programme at the ESRC Centre for Society and Mental Health. He co-leads the WelfareExperiences project, a mixed-methods comparison of social security claimant experiences across Europe. Previously, he was a Reader in Sociology and Social Policy at the University of Kent (2015–2022) and served on secondment as a Policy Advisor at the Department of Work and Pensions (2015–2016). His research focuses on social security, mental health, disability policy, and the intersections of work, welfare, and public health.

His collaborative projects involve global comparisons of welfare systems and mixed-methods analyses of claimant experiences.
