Ben Allums

Ben Allums is Assistant Professor of Law at the College of Law, Loyola University New Orleans, since 2023. His career spans 16 years of maritime law practice, including clerkships with the Louisiana Supreme Court and U.S. District Court for Eastern Louisiana.

Education:

• J.D., Tulane University Law School (magna cum laude), 2007
• B.S., Louisiana State University (cum laude), 2002

Professor Allums specializes in maritime law and federal civil procedure. His expertise was honed through extensive work on the Deepwater Horizon litigation and clerkships with prominent judges, including Honorable Pascal F. Calogero, Jr. and Honorable Carl J. Barbier.

• Charles Kolhmeyer, Jr. Award (outstanding graduate in maritime law)

He previously practiced at Liskow & Lewis (2022), Gordon Arata McCollam Duplantis and Eagan (2007-2011), and served as law clerk for U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
