Bella Radenovic

Bella Radenovic is an Associate Lecturer and PhD candidate at The Courtauld Institute of Art, where her doctoral research examines the production and veneration of medieval Georgian icons. Her work investigates artistic patronage networks, devotional practices, and museological challenges surrounding sacred objects. With an MA from The Courtauld and BA from the University of Cambridge, she specializes in Byzantine and post-Byzantine artistic traditions.

Research foci include:

• Veneration practices for repoussé and painted icons in Georgia
• Historical documentation of icon patronage from monarchs to laypeople
• Epigraphic analysis of artists' signatures
• Museum display ethics for religious objects
• Comparative analysis of Byzantine and Georgian artistic traditions

Her single publication documents an interview with the art collective Slavs and Tatars, exploring themes of cultural identity and artistic translation across Eurasian contexts. Conference presentations include analyses of icon transmission between Byzantium and Tao-Klarjeti at the International Medieval Congress (2020) and examinations of viewing practices for Georgian icon inscriptions at Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz (2020).

Teaching experience includes serving as Associate Lecturer for 'Late Antique and Byzantine Art Through London Collections' at The Courtauld. Professional activities encompass editing for immediations journal and prior specialist work in Russian art at Sotheby's.
