Belinda Gabbe is a Professor (Research) at Monash University, serving as Co-Head of the Clinical and Health data Outcomes Innovation and Research (CHOIR) division and Head of the Prehospital, Emergency and Trauma Research Unit within the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine. She leads major registries including the Victorian State Trauma Registry, Victorian Orthopaedic Trauma Outcomes Registry, and the Academic Lead for the Burns Registry of Australia and New Zealand. As an NHMRC Leadership Fellow, her research focuses on trauma care evaluation, trauma systems, and injury burden analysis.
She leads or collaborates on over 60 active and completed research projects, including initiatives like the 'Advancing Care Through Injury Outcome Navigators (ACTION) Study' and 'Ember to Empower' burn recovery toolkit. Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to reducing injury-related disability and improving health systems.
Recent publications emphasize quality improvement in trauma care, patient outcomes after burns and fractures, and the impact of public health interventions. Her grants include Transport Accident Commission funding for orthopaedic registries and NHMRC support for leadership in health research.
