Beldina Owalla is a Senior Lecturer in Business and Management at Oxford Brookes Business School, part of Oxford Brookes University. She holds a PhD in Business Administration from the Stockholm School of Economics. Her research focuses on inclusive entrepreneurship, emphasizing intersectional perspectives on gender, culture, and innovation in diverse geographical contexts.
Her research projects include studies on women’s entrepreneurial identities, SME productivity, community business growth strategies, and diversity in innovation ecosystems. Notable grants include a £130k Innovate UK project (2022–2023) and a £211k EU-funded initiative (2022–2023). She also leads a British Academy-funded project (2025–2026) analyzing SME innovation drivers and an ESRC-funded study (2024) on career impacts of the pandemic on underrepresented academics.
Teaching responsibilities include modules like Business Ethics, Family Business & Sustainability, and dissertation supervision for MSc students. She actively contributes to professional networks including the Global Women’s Entrepreneurship Policy (GWEP) network and serves on editorial boards for Gender in Management and Journal of Business Leadership and Management.
Her recent publications address FDI motivation systems, community business models, and intersectional barriers in entrepreneurship. She frequently presents at conferences such as the British Academy of Management and Academy of Management, advocating for inclusive innovation policies.
