Behzad Kordi

Behzad Kordi is a full Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Price Faculty of Engineering, University of Manitoba. He serves as Director of the McMath High Voltage Laboratory and is a registered Professional Engineer in Manitoba.

His research focuses on high voltage engineering, power systems transients, applied electromagnetics, and condition monitoring of high voltage apparatus. He has developed simulation models for power transformers and transmission lines and contributes to transient modeling standards through Cigre working groups.

Dr. Kordi was Chair of URSI Canada Commission E (2012–2013) and is an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation and IET High Voltage. He received the 2012 IEEE EMC Richard B. Schulz Best Transactions Paper Award for his contributions to electromagnetic compatibility research.

He currently does not have graduate student opportunities available but continues to lead research initiatives in high voltage engineering at the University of Manitoba.
