Beckie George is an Associate Tutor in the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia. She is affiliated with the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, Environmental Biology Research Group, and Environmental Social Sciences research groups. Her work bridges avian conservation, land-use policy, and climate change mitigation.

Research Interests: Beckie focuses on synergizing climate change mitigation and biodiversity conservation in the UK, using bird populations as indicators. Her PhD project analyzes data from the British Trust for Ornithology’s Breeding Bird Survey to inform land-use policies aligned with net-zero targets. She explores how rewilding and agricultural policy reforms can address biodiversity and climate crises concurrently.
Professional Experience: Prior to her PhD, Beckie worked as a Rewilding Officer at an organic farm, researching policy shifts affecting land management and fostering collaboration with farmers. This experience reinforced her commitment to translating ecological research into actionable policy.
