معرفی
Dr Beatriz Jimenez is a part-time (casual) academic researcher in the Department of Metabolism, Digestion and Reproduction within the Faculty of Medicine at Imperial College London. She is head of the NMR section at the Clinical Phenotyping Centre and holds additional affiliations with the Section of Bioanalytical Chemistry, the Imperial International Phenome Training Centre, and the Microbiome Network.
Trained originally as an inorganic chemist, she evolved into an NMR spectroscopist with deep expertise spanning structural biology, analytical chemistry, and clinical metabolomics. Her core focus is leveraging high-field NMR to interrogate metabolic phenotypes for disease diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutic monitoring. She has spearheaded the installation of three hospital-based NMR spectrometers at Saint Mary's Hospital, fostering seamless clinician-scientist collaboration.
Research Interests
- NMR pulse sequence development for enhanced protein structure determination
- Metabolomics-driven biomarker discovery in oncology, neurology, and reproductive medicine
- Integration of large-scale spectral data with electronic health records for precision medicine
Laboratories & Teams
She leads the NMR capability within the Clinical Phenotyping Centre, managing a multi-disciplinary team of spectroscopists, data scientists, and clinicians operating 400, 500, and 600 MHz spectrometers in a clinical environment.
