Dr. Beatriz Carrillo Garcia is a Senior Lecturer in Sociology and Criminology at the University of Sydney's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. She serves as Associate Dean for Indigenous Strategy and Services. Her research examines social justice through two primary pathways: social inclusion/exclusion of rural migrants in China and transformative learning methodologies. She holds a BA from ITESM and PhD from UTS.
Her research interests focus on transformative learning through Theory U frameworks, second-generation rural-to-urban migrant workers in China, and Chinese youth in precarious employment. Her work bridges sociological theory with practical applications in educational transformation and migrant integration.
Publications demonstrate consistent focus on Chinese social transformation, with recent work expanding into relational pedagogies and awareness-based learning methodologies. Her scholarship shows increasing emphasis on educational innovation alongside her foundational work on Chinese migration and social policy.
