معرفی
Beatrice Kitzinger is an Associate Professor of Art and Archaeology at Princeton University, where she also serves as the director for the Program in Medieval Studies. Her research focuses on Western European medieval art, particularly Carolingian-era manuscript illumination and treasury arts, exploring intersections of artistic media, liturgical space, and historical/eschatological time.
Education
- Ph.D., Harvard University, 2012
Her research examines the relationship between book-making and broader art-making practices in the Carolingian world, emphasizing little-studied manuscripts from western France. She also investigates the intersection of art and theater in the Middle Ages and the materials and techniques of medieval artwork, as well as its societal and functional roles.
Kitzinger’s recent publications analyze trends in Carolingian and post-Carolingian manuscript culture, including studies of Gospel books, Eusebian canons, and the materiality of the Cross in Romanesque art. Her work often combines codicological analysis with interdisciplinary approaches to early medieval visual culture.
