Beatrice Engelmann

Dr. Beatrice Engelmann is a Research Fellow in the Functional Metabolomics group at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) in Leipzig, Germany. She specializes in metabolomics and proteomics to study the effects of environmental contaminants on adipocyte differentiation and metabolic pathways. Her work focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms of xenobiotic exposure, particularly regarding endocrine disruptors like DINCH and plastic additives.

Engelmann holds a PhD in Functional Genomics from the University of Greifswald (2017) and a Diploma in Biochemistry from the University of Greifswald (2013). She has conducted postdoctoral research at the University Medicine Greifswald (2017–2018) and the UFZ (2018–present). Her research integrates multi-omics approaches to investigate how environmental chemicals impact metabolic and epigenetic processes in human and model systems.
