Beate Mueller

Dr. Beate Mueller is a Senior Lecturer at the TD School, University of Technology Sydney (UTS). Her expertise spans higher education teaching and learning, with a focus on global work-integrated learning (WIL), career development, intercultural communication, and diversity and inclusion. She holds a PhD from Macquarie University (Sydney) and prior degrees from Friedrich-Schiller University in Germany. Currently, she convenes the Innovation Internship A+B program and teaches subjects including Work-Integrated Learning, Intercultural Communication, and Graduate Capabilities. Dr. Mueller’s service roles include Associate Editor for the Journal of University Teaching and Learning Practice and Board Membership in the Australian Collaborative Education Network (ACEN).

Research Interests: Dr. Mueller’s work centers on pedagogical strategies for inclusive education, compassionate teaching practices, online WIL adaptation during the pandemic, and student perceptions of international studies. Her research bridges theory and practice, emphasizing authentic learning experiences and social justice in higher education.

Teaching & Supervision: She leads courses in WIL, career development, and intercultural communication. Her supervision focuses on graduate capstone projects and international internship frameworks.
