Dr. Beata Hołub is an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Geomorphology and Paleogeography, Faculty of Earth Sciences and Spatial Management, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS). Her work integrates GIS, loess stratigraphy, and Quaternary paleoenvironmental studies to reconstruct Pleistocene landscapes and their influence on Palaeolithic human settlement. She serves as a member of the Faculty Program Team for Geoinformatics and Military Geography, and as Editorial Secretary of Annales UMCS (Section B).
- Education: PhD in Earth Sciences (2016, UMCS), Postgraduate GIS (2014, UMCS), Postgraduate Eastern Studies (2012, John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin), MA in Geography (2006, UMCS).
Her research focuses on geoarchaeology, geo-statistical modeling, and digital elevation analysis to study climate-environment-human interactions during the Pleistocene-Holocene transition. Recent work includes high-resolution studies of loess-paleosol sequences in the Dnieper River basin and landscape evolution in the Central Western Carpathians. She has co-authored 15+ publications on topics including glacial-periglacial systems, aeolian accumulation phases, and GIS-based settlement pattern reconstructions.
Scientific Awards include the Siedlecka Award for top geography graduate (2006), multiple Rector's Team Awards (2016–2017), a co-authorship award for the Wilczyce monograph (2018), and the Bronze Medal for Long-Term Service (2022).
