Dr. Beata Grzyl is a Professor at the Department of Building Engineering, Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Gdańsk University of Technology. She holds a doctoral degree in Construction Engineering (obtained in 2006) and has established herself as a prominent researcher in construction management, risk analysis, and life cycle cost assessment.
Her research interests span across several key areas of construction engineering:
- Construction Risk Management and Assessment
- Life Cycle Cost Analysis of Building and Infrastructure Projects
- Building Information Modeling (BIM) Implementation
- Public Procurement and Contract Management
- Construction Dispute Resolution
- Sustainable Construction Practices
Professor Grzyl's scholarly work demonstrates a consistent focus on practical applications of theoretical concepts in construction management. Her recent publications indicate a strong emphasis on digital transformation in construction through BIM technology, quantitative risk assessment methods incorporating machine learning tools, and comprehensive life cycle cost analysis approaches for various construction elements and systems. She has made significant contributions to understanding the barriers to BIM implementation in Polish construction companies and developing methods for risk assessment in urban construction projects, particularly those in historic areas.
Her scientific achievements include numerous publications in reputable journals such as Symmetry-Basel, Materials, and Materiały Budowlane. She has collaborated extensively with researchers including M.E. Apollo, A. Kristowski, and M. Szczepański on various construction-related research projects.
Professor Grzyl has also contributed to the field through her work on:
- Multi-criteria analysis for construction material selection
- Game theory applications in construction contract management
- Corrosion protection systems for steel structures
- Analysis of public procurement procedures in EU countries
