A. Malkwitz

A. Malkwitz is a Professor and Head of the Institute for Construction Operations and Management (IBB) at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Duisburg-Essen. He leads academic programs in Construction Management, including Bachelor and Master degrees, and oversees research initiatives focused on efficiency in construction processes, Facility Information Management (FIM), sustainable procurement, and the integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and machine learning in construction cost forecasting.

Research & Academic Leadership

The institute under his leadership collaborates with industry partners across Germany and hosts annual events like the Construction Theme Day (2025 edition themed “less is more”). His research spans lifecycle management, project evaluation, and interdisciplinary cooperation, with a strong emphasis on innovation in construction practices.
