Başak Tuna is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Kırşehir Ahi Evran University, where she teaches and researches in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. She previously held a full-time research assistant position at the University of Bradford and Ahi Evran University.

Her research focuses on polymer processing technologies, nanocomposites, plastic recycling, pharmaceutical engineering, and cosmetology. Recent work emphasizes chain extension of recycled polymers and green/sustainable materials.
She has contributed to 9 SCI/SCIE-indexed journal articles and presented 16 international/national conference papers. Her publications analyze polymer modification techniques, nanocomposite synthesis, and sustainability in materials engineering.
Dr. Tuna actively serves as a referee for TÜBİTAK projects and a reviewer for 30+ journals. She is a member of the Polymer Processing Society and Anadolu Rheology Association, and has participated in scientific panels for EU-funded programs like M-ERA.NET and Eureka.
