Başak Güven is an Associate Professor at Boğaziçi University's Institute of Environmental Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Reading (2006) and a B.S. in Environmental Engineering from Istanbul Technical University (2000). Her academic career includes positions as Lecturer and Researcher at the University of Reading (2002-2007) and Assistant Professor at Boğaziçi University (2007-2017).
Her research focuses on:
- Environmental systems modeling and risk analysis
- Contaminant fate and transport simulation
- GIS applications in watershed management
- Hydrological and water quality modeling
Her publications demonstrate expertise in hydrodynamic modeling, cyanobacterial behavior prediction, and environmental risk mapping using spatial analysis techniques. Recent projects include modeling antibiotic transport in Marmara Region, climate change impacts on river morphology, and algal behavior prediction in Ömerli Reservoir.
