Başak Aru is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Basic Medical Sciences, Division of Immunology at Yeditepe University Faculty of Medicine. She holds a PhD in Molecular Biology and Genetics from Gebze Technical University and has contributed to research in immunology, cancer therapy, and nanotechnology-based biomedical applications.

She has collaborated on projects involving Valeriana species metabolites and iron/zinc nanoparticles for medical applications.
