Bałus Wojciech

Wojciech Bałus is a Full Professor in the Department of Art History at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków since 2003. He has held visiting professorships at the Johann Gutenberg Universität Mainz (2006), University of Kiel (1997), and previously served as Assistant at Jagiellonian University since 1985. He was elected as an ordinary member of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences (PAU) in 2023.

• Education: MA in Art History (1985), PhD (1990) with thesis on Jan Sas Zubrzycki's art theory, Habilitation (1997) with thesis Mundus melancholicus.
• Research Interests: Focuses on modern art/architecture history, art theory, methodology of art history, and stained-glass studies.

Scientific Honors: Jerzy Łoziński Prize (2014), Foundation of Polish Science Master award (2015), and memberships in Societas Jablonoviana, AICA, and PAU.

Administrative Roles: Directed the Department of Art History (2002–2008), served on the Polish Accreditation Committee (2008–2016), and participated in Grant Commissions.
