Bayram Edemir is a W2 Professor at the Institute of Physiology, Pathophysiology and Toxicology, affiliated with the Faculty of Health at the University of Witten/Herdecke. He also serves as Head of the Cellular and Molecular Tumor Biology working group, Scientific Coordinator, and Head of the Diagnostic Laboratory at the University Hospital Halle (Saale).
- Education: Doctorate in Biology from Free University of Berlin and Research Institute for Molecular Pharmacology (2003); completed diploma thesis at Research Institute for Molecular Pharmacology (1999–2003); Habilitation in Experimental and Molecular Nephrology from WWU Münster (2012).
Research interests focus on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of epithelial biomembranes, pathophysiological processes in tumor biology, and nephrology. His work integrates molecular pharmacology and translational approaches.
Teaching includes supervision of consultation hours, internships, lectures, and practical courses in the model medical study program and dental/oral medicine programs.
Professional memberships include the German Physiological Society and the American Physiological Society.
