Houdou Basse Mama is a full professor of finance at ESCP Business School's Berlin campus, holding the Chair in International Financial Markets. He teaches international finance, empirical finance, asset management, and sustainable finance. His research bridges international business, innovation, and sustainability, focusing on financial markets' real economic impacts. He serves as Berlin-based Local Academic Director for the Bachelor in Management program since 2020.
Education: PhD in Finance from University of Hamburg, Master’s in International Business (Hamburg), M.A. in Accounting and Finance (Université Cheikh Anta Diop Dakar), and M.A. in Applied Foreign Languages (Dakar & AUPELF-UREF Montréal). Previous roles include postdoc at Hamburg, visiting lecturer at St. Petersburg State University (2009–2011) and Bordeaux Business School (2011–2012).
Research interests include empirical asset pricing, innovation economics, climate change, and EU emissions trading system dynamics. His publications address carbon policy impacts, investor behavior, and nonlinear innovation payoffs in leading journals like Research Policy and Energy Economics.
Industry experience spans 3.5 years at Deutsche Boerse (derivatives indices) and Siemens (financial controlling in Senegal). His work emphasizes Sustainable Finance and the integration of environmental innovation into corporate strategy.
